does my trigger even have ich?

does my trigger have ich, he has something on his fins, it has been there for quiet some time, maybe a week or two, but they arent really white spots, they are more like discolorations, and they are ONLY on his fins, not on his body at all. i have been treating him in a copper quareentine tank, and nothing has happened yet, he has been in there for 4 days now. what is wrong with him? i would like to get him back in the tank ASAP, because he is acting very unusual, not like normally does

Is there any dimension to the spots? What type of trigger is it?

Ich is contagious. It's a parasite.
 
My Trigger may have ich too??

I have a trigger too which I just noticed has the little white spots which appear to be ich. I'm guessing he got it at the pet store because none of my other pre-existing fish have it and I just bought him. Should I treat him in a 5 gal. QT tank with Cupramine or some other copper treatment? Which do you think works best?
 
spots have NO dimensions,like i said, it just looks like he has discolorations on his fins, and only on his fins. it is a niger trigger, and my damsel has no spots on him whatsoever, i had the trigger and the damsel in a QT tank for 4 days, and the spots havent changed at all

Ich will be standing up away from the fish. Doesn't sound like ich to me. I've seen darker spots on a niger, but never lighter colored spots. Any other sypmtoms? Flashing?
 
nope, no other symptoms, but now he has a white spot on his tail, it is def white and has a little bit of a dimension to it, like a dome shape, i left him alone for the weekend, (i left town) and he has the spot on his tail, but seems like the rest have gone down, any thoughts?
 
also will ich go away after time, or what? and is it just on the fish, or is it in the water, and what is the likeliness of it speading to other fish?
 
Few things to clarify. Ich along with all parasites and pathogens are in the water all the time, only the stressed/ill get affected by them then when there is a breakout it can affect even healthy fish. Just like diseases are in the air all the time with humans. Chunksta1985-your trigger could have been stressed by the move and got ich in your tank. Just watch your other fish for it. Most times triggers can fight off disease on their own. They have tough leathery skin that parasites can't inhabit well so most triggs will only show symptoms on their fins. I wouldn't throw a trigg in a 5 gallon, even for a little while. That will generally stress them more than anything so in that case just watch him and if he gets worse then put him in there if not, let him fight it on his own. You could also try adding garlic to its food.
simple mr2- It sounds more like maybe some damage to the fin rather than ich. The damsel could have bite him. What size QT is he in? Generally any small tank that houses a damsel with something else the damsel will stress the other fish. Ich has a 3 week life cycle consisting of a cyst form, free floating form, and attached to fish form. It takes 3 weeks for the entire life cycle to complete itself. Ich is HIGHLY contagious. It can spread easily to other fish especially Tangs, Angels, Butterflies, among a few others. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck to all!
 
ok, now the spot moved to the back end of his tail, (this is getting real weird), and he now has a spot on his eye, im thinking he should go back in the QT tank, its a 5.5 gallon. and i just put a tang in there, so i am going to need to act fast!
