does new lighting affect fish?

i've recently upgraded from .62 WPG to a lil' over 2.3 wpg(using cfl) on my 29 gallon.

my tiger barbs have been hiding out ever since and not all over the tank like they used to be. my cories, harlequins and otos are doing just fine. it's just my tigers that hiding out.

would the change in lighting affect my tiger barbs?

they will probly get used to it timid fish can get spooked like that

it's been about 5 days now and they still hide and not eat. these guys were little pigs before the change and would eat everything before the other fish can get to it. i've already lost one and i hope i dont lose anymore. it just has me a little worried since they were real active before the light change.
