Does Prime stink?

I've never noticed before, but I was doing a water change last week, and when I opened my bottle of prime, it smelled horrible! Does it always smell bad? Or does it just go bad? Is it still safe to use?

That's good to know. I never thought to smell it, but when I got that wiff I thought my tank was about ready to die or something.

Yes, it contains sulfur compounds...hence the faint rotten egg smell.

There's nothing faint about it. It stinks something awful.

There's nothing wrong with it though. Still works the same.

I keep prime in my bathroom because I fill the water bucket up from there. Before someone told me prime stunk, I kept thinking the stink was because I needed to clean out the litter box. 3 months later I figured out it wasn't the litter box.

oh yeah. prime smells like a bad lead acid battery. I had a Buick LeSabre where the battery went foul, oh man did that stink.
