By the way Jag1980, I watched the video of your planted tank 'pearling'. What a gorgeous tank......it's tanks like yours & others here on AC that made me want a planted tank in the first place. I was happy with my artificial plants till I started seeing these amazing real planted tanks.
 
Personal opinion here, but at 2.5 wpg you really need to consider a pressurized setup. DIY simply is too unreliable and you will most certainly experience the kind of CO2 fluctuations that cause some really nasty algae (like BBA).

I personally run airstones at night only to prevent CO2 asphyxiation during the night hours. The CO2 stays on overnight in this setup. However, you could get a similar effect by putting the pressurized CO2 setup solenoid on a timer (off at night). Good luck!
 
Yeah, I was thinking right about now that I should consider pressurized system (w/ timer & solenoid)...The questionable part of the equation is the DIY aspect. It just seemed to me that a lot of people here use the DIY method and I haven't really seen many posts that complain about problems with it. Maybe some people have problems with their DIY C02 and don't know it. Or maybe I haven't stumbled into that part of the forum yet?=) I appreciate the help, especially from ashk, jag1980, drvader, jpappy. thank you.
