Generally, I think if you exercise tact, you can approach nearly anyone about how to keep a correct aquarium. Most people find that their aquariums are even more interesting when the environment they create matches the fishs' needs. If you approach someone from the angle of what makes their fish happy, rather than what they are doing wrong, they will respond positively.

Working at Petsmart for just about a year now, I can tell you that is WRONG lol

My sister and brother-in-law have a two and a half gallon tank full of fish. A silver dollar, pleco, 2 guoramies, betta, I think that's it. They've had the fish for a while now and none of them are growing. When I explained to my brother-in-law that the fish were stunted he said, "So, that's fine. I can't afford a bigger tank."

unreal. The bottom line is, I dont think most people see fish so much as animals, but rather ornaments.

My friend and her boyfriend have 2 HUGE jaguar cichlids and a HUGE pleco in a 55 gallon tank. They would like a bigger tank but don't have the extra cash for it, plus they are on a second floor of an older apt. and are afraid to go any bigger. I feel bad for all involved
