Does this setup for ADFs sound alright? Also, feeding questions?

My four ADFs live in a bare bottom, 5 gallon tank, 15.5" high with two light plants, two hidey decorations, and a Whisper Filter, which they mysteriously like to hide in O_O this worries me.

I had to use two kinds of tap water, filtered and unfiltered, to fill up the tank. I de-chlorninated the tank with drops and though I have no water heater, I used semi-cool water, probably late-60s because my room is humid and heats up water easily, I'm sure.

My big problem is FOOD FOOD FOOD. I put in two sinking pellets today to gauge their reaction (from frog-o-sphere) and I believe they ignored them, as they did my foating freeze-dried bloodworms. I don't believe Petco or Petsmart stock frozen bloodworms, and the only online site that has them has $25 shipping! ): I tried putting the pellets on a plate, but they ignored them. Should I hand feed the FD bloodworms?

Any help, advice, etc. is very much appreciated.

My daughters ADF eat only live or frozen food (Brind shrimp, tubilex, blood worms, glass worms, ect). I do not think they eat dried food. How warm is your water??

I'd the the water warm up to mid 70s before adding it to the tank at least.

Petco and Petsmart do carry frozen foods including blood worms, mysis, and brine shrimp. They are usually near the regular food or the tanks in a freezer with a glass front (might be one that looks like a fridge, though). I'd also pick up a pair of the feeding tongs that they have near the reptile feeding supplies so that you can wiggle the worms near the frogs' faces to get their attention.

ADF's can't smell the food. They catch it through movement. They can be 'trained' to eat the pellets but it takes a while to get them used to a feeding schedule.

I agree with bazil; get the tongs. They may cost a lot but it's better than dead frogs.

You might want to look into adding a dark sand bottom or other dark, soft substrate. It'll make them feel more comfortable since they are bottomdwellers.

They also need a constant heat to maintain their metabolism so they actually want to eat.

Good luck.

My Petcos and Petsmarts do stock frozen foods. Look for a glass fronted freezer near the fish tanks, or ask an employee.
