My dojo loach is sitting on the bottom of the tank, not moving too much, and twitching occasionally. This morning he was just fine, eating like a pig, and I've never had a problem with him before. What could be wrong?

ammonia nitrite nitrate readings? temp?

any odd bodliy abnormalties? temp? A/N/N readings?

Temp. of water is 78 degrees. The temperature got below 30 degrees last night outside.... When I woke up the water in my tank was 72 degrees because the house got so cold. The dojo loach seems to have a kind of grey mucus coating on the back of him. I think he has a fungal infection.... I just don't know what to do about it. He's moving around a bit more than he did before I did a 10% water change.

get an antifungal remedy. I reccomend pimelafix. oh, and don't do a salt treatment. loaches are VERY sensitive to salt!

I read in the book "Aquariums for Dummies" that Malachite Green would also work. I have some of that for treating ich... Would that possibly help?

he probably went into shock because of the temperature difference. if the outside of your house was 30 degrees, chances are the temp in your house was in the 50's, which is way to low, even though some consider dojos coldwater fish.
then, since his tank water was at 78 and then dropped quickly and then rose back up again, he probably got an infection that makes him create alot of extra slime coat.

That's what I was thinking happened.... I'm turning up the temperature in my house this evening so that it won't drop so low tonight. Winters get pretty cold here in Oklahoma...

So, would malachite green help?
