yes, as they look very similar and one could easily mistake the male of the one species for a male of their own.
 
I didn't say that you couldn't keep 1 betta and 1 paradise fish together in the same aquarium, although this could lead to problems. I said it is not wise to keep 2 paradise fish together in the same aquarium, as this is similar to keeping 2 bettas in the same aquarium.
 
i have a strong feeling that blueiz is gonna cloze this page too, the thing about the paradise fish being together. in pet stores u see them in groups of 7 or more, does that stress the fish. im not going to get that many anyway
 
I'll close the thread based on your question has been answered and it seems to have become an arguement over how to maintain fish, that are not part of the original post.
