Dolphin like fish

Thanks for the assist. Know I can print that off and bring it into work, that way we have a point of reference to work off of.

They were playing with balls that is cool, what other fish play with things.

It's a species of elephantfish, Haven't seen them available very often. You'd be better off with getting a regular elephant nose or a baby whale.
 
Hi, I've been reading this forum for a while and just decided to reply to a post. I had an elephant nose. They are difficult at best. They only eat live food. They are shy and need a tube to hide in. Oh and did I say that they are nearly blind. They cannot compete with other fish for food. You will have to always have a supply of live bloodworms handy. If other faster fish are in the tank with them the elephant nose will slowly starve to death. They emit an electric pulse that seems to aggrevate the other fish in the tank, though it's not strong enough to hurt the other fish.

These really are great fish, but you have to dedicate an entire tank to them alone.
 
Surprisingly enough, my crappy LFS had one not long ago. Cool fish, I've only seen them in person twice. The last one I saw was just hiding in some fake plants.

Good first post, I totally agree with you on this one. Anything that's a nocturnal feeder generally isn't suited for a community tank. Even a black ghost knife couldn't handle it with other fish (generally because they eat other fish), but if they were kept with larger fish they would get along with they'd ultimately starve to death.
 
Hmmm. I've had a BG in my community tank for 5 days now. He's a perfect gentleman. I have 2 1/4 inch sized baby platys in there, and one surviving ghost shrimp. So far so good, I drop in a few blood worms, which the greedy platys scoop up right away. After he gets the scent, he comes out and I drop more in and he manages to get his fill. After he gets his share of bloodworms, he sleeps in the bushes and doesn't bother the others. My clown pleco, on the other hand shooes all the others away from where he is grazing.

I just love those dolphin fish, I think they're more attractive than the elephant nose. But, to each his own.
