The quarter sized turtle is here. I made the mistake of letting my friends name it. They named it Jack Mehouf. remember, we are only a few 13 year olds.
You guys think i might be able to pull off keeping a turtle that small with my mudskipper tank? at the store, they have them with baby water dragons, and fire bellied toads. i alredy have fire toads and know that my skipper is much more alert and larger
 
I know. can i mke it work at its current size?

They also have a help forum for other turtle owners there. Make sure you know what kind of commitment you're getting into here. That tank may work for a while, but the turtle will outgrow it, and eventually will need its own environment.

I think you'd be better off buying a big heavy duty plastic tubs you can get at kmart, and pop on an aqua-clear filter for it. That's what I'm doing for some of my own rescued critters. Also get some rocks, or floating turtle platforms for it so it get come and go from the water. Also, as for tub size you'll want to get for it, I'd reccomend a 40 gallon tub, since that will be about what it needs as an adult. If you can't find that size tub, then 25-30 gallons would be good for a while.

What kind of turtle is it? I can find out what size it'll attain as an adult, and other links that may be helpful to you for keeping it. ~Angela
 
I plan to get at least a 20 this summer with a large footprint. For a filter, I am using a Whiper intank 5-10 gallon fiter, and For substrate I use Stoney River small natural graver, and there are several bamboo plants (like 12) around the tank. there are a few fake plants (the kind you would atach to the sides of an anole tank) floating atop for shade My lanscaping was made for easy access from land to water, but i fond that its shell is very delicate (your fingernail is harder) and you have to be carful with you hold it because if you press its shell it can sink a little and would cave in very easily. I descided to redue the tank around the turtle wich the others don't seem to have a problem with it. I plan to instal a second in-tank filter. and swich to a special reptile lighting, plus add a lot more bamboo, and I have fond a screen the right size. Does anyone know other kinds of durible sturdy live plants that could work? could a narcisus or to for decor work? the tank will not be brackish. My goal is to add as much compatible biodeversity with minemal problems. the screen will keep the escape artests in but i will add uther things onto it to keep humidity high.

I plan to add one or 2 green tree frogs, another fire toad (maybe), and a flying gecko. the sturdy plant are for the gecko, green tree frogs, my personal liking and for nitrites/trates. the screen is for them too. the reptolight is for all. the 2nd filter is for maximum humidity and good filtration. the LFS has five-six F. geckos and there is a 5" one with a very dark and rich brown that I have my eye on. the turtle is a red eared mudslidder. the problem with the bio- diversity plan, is that nobody has done combinations like that. Aqualand pets plus has all the above so I think I will e-mail them and get there opinion.
