Horrified in my latest visit to Petsmart- Glofish look to be joining Goldfish and Betta in the list of fish to be abused by having inappropriately tiny containers marketed for them.

They are now selling 1.7 gallon tanks that they are advertising as "Glo-fish tanks".

Anyone who has ever kept Danios know that they require a lot of space because they are extremely active fish. I can't imagine keeping them in anything less than a 20gallon.

1.7 galons... Amazing!

OH no!...At least it's less cruel then keeping a goldfish in the same amount of space.

I agree its better than keep a Goldfish in that space- I am tempted to write to Petsmart- not confident it will do any good- but I may anyway.

if you dont write it is guaranteed that nothing will change. If you do write there is a possibility that something may change. IMHO, if you had enough motivation to go home, start up the interweb on your computer and make this post you have the ambition to write a letter about it as well.

In this case I'm also glad glo fish cost $8 each.

I don't want to sound like a downer on this one but this is a corporate deal. Petsmart is going to try and make some more money this holiday season by carrying these glofish bowls. I know its wrong, but if this is implemented in all their stores, I am afraid that it is already too late. I understand your frustrations, but nothing here is going to change. They made glofish bowls to make a killing on the fish! Those are expensive, but will probably live past the 14 day guarantee that they have, which means more money for the store once they die. Its sad but sometimes there is nothing we can do....

My gm at Petco could care less about what products he is selling, as long as they make him money. Thats how it goes. A simple letter to the store could end up in the garbage. Pet stores know how to deal with people like us.

It is Corporate that decides these things. I work at Petsmart and I will tell you that alot of our employees complain about things like this but it does nothing. When it comes from customer they start to listen . So please Email Corporate headquarters or your local store and KEEP complaining. What we do is just flat out tell the customer DO NOT BUY THAT. If my boss knew I did that I would probably loose my job but oh well. So I agree Please complain!!!

I went to petsmart myself yesterday to get guppies for my little sister's 10 gallon. I didn't see small glofish tanks, but I might have missed them. On a side note, I was really happy when the employee knew her stuff. She was asking about the tank size, current fish that we had in there, and the food we were going to feed.
