Dormant Aponogeton

I have an aponogeton bulb that i've had for about 3 years. I first got it as a bulb with small plant attached and it grew huge, even flowered and such. Grew for a bout a year then just died off leaving me with the bulb. The bulb has been sitting in a 33 gallon aquarium ever since and has shown no signs of resprouting, but also has not deteriorated at all. Is it still possible to get this thing to sprout again somehow?

I may be wrong, but I think that the bulb will only sprout again after "changing of seasons" has been simulated. I recently read an article on it.
