Well I finally got myself some planted tanks! One is a 6gallon and one is a 3gallon both with betta fish in them. Now I did read the directions and went to a calculation conversion site to try and figure out just how much I should be dosing but I am still a little confused I guess on just how much I should dose a 3 and 6 gallon tank. I do not want to overdose because well it says right on the bottle DO NOT OVERDOSE, in big letters.

These are the directions on the bottle: On the initial use or after a major (> 40%) water change, use 1 capful (5mL) for every 40L (10 gallons*). There after use 1 capful for every 200L (50 gallons*) daily or ever other day. Dosing may be slowly increased in high-growth aquariums. For smaller dosing please note that 1 cap thread is approximately 1mL.

Great so 1 cap thread is approximately 1mL... but there aren't 5 cap threads there's like 2... :irked:

I have this trouble dosing Prime too but you don't really have to worry about overdosing that so I don't worry about it to much.

Basically I'm pretty mathematically dumb and am just looking for a little guidance and a simple answer.:1zhelp: :bowing:

I should probably mention that I have root tabs under the Amazon Swords in both tanks.

Here are pics of the 2 aquariums.. I do believe that one plant (Anubia?) that is suppose to be tied down to something I have in the sand but I didn't burry the Rhizome, I think it's called, just the roots but I do plan on tieing that to the drift wood sooner or later.

6Gallon

3Gallon. Driftwood has not sunk yet so I can't tie the Java fern to it.

I use a syringe to measure out the dose. (One capful equals 6cc's.) I also only use Excel Flourish after I change the water twice a week.

can't help with the math, but my lace java fern is in my gravel and doing just fine lots and lots of new plantlets with long roots. It's time for me to trim again
and doing some rescaping. I like the looks of both your tanks.

get yourself a syringe. they sell them at drug stores (not hypodermic needles) to administer drugs oraly to younger children. 1ml is for 10 gallons. just split it up. you can eyeball it and you'll be fine. it says not to overdose but people do all of the time just to spot treat algae. and it also ranges for the amount of plants in your tank. so there isnt a set limit just try to get it close and you'll be fine

i had a tank that i dosed what they recommend for the initial dose everyday without any problem at all

Thank you all for your help! I'll be sure to pick up a syringe today!

try to find one thats more accurate. they sell them that count by 5ml and there are ones that count by 1ml. 1ml obviously being more accurate. cvs had the ones that counted by 5 and i asked the pharmacist if they had another one behind the counter that they gave me.
