I just started to use excel and I'm concerned that it may melt away some of my plants.

I have vals, cabomba, swords, crypts, ludwiga, java moss, bacopa, and pennywort.

Some Vals make it some don't. It looks like mine are on the way out. I might try dosing half the amount for the 1st week and then increasing it to 3/4 for week 2. Then full dose week 3 and see if acclimating them to it helps.

Good luck.

I'm trying to figure out if excel will kill my vals. I already have a DIY CO2 system in place, it just not consistent through out the entire due to fluctuations in the room temperature.

Brush algae has been trying to take over.

Excel will 'melt' plants if overdosed dramatically. In most cases, Flourish excel will be fine with your listed plants. If you notice any brown leaves or deteriorating plants, I would just remove those particular plants, or decrease dosage. If the reduced dosage doesn't help relieve the plant problem, then definately consider removing them or playing with DIY CO2 a bit more.

Thanks John.

I plan to only dose half the recommended amount to supplement the DIY CO2.
