yes, the same technique applies to cucumber (either blanching or freezing to help break it down). oto's prefer soft foods, so won't usually touch fresh, crisp veggies unless it's been there for a few days and is starting to rot, yuck. thus, the handling methods to soften the veggies. The only thing with cucumbers is that many folks remove the seeds first, as those aren't eaten by your fish anyway.

One brand of prepared food that I've found my otos to relish is Omega One veggie rounds. They are sinking, and unlike most algae wafers, their first two ingredients are kelp and spirulina (instead of fish meal or shrimp meal) so much more appealing to true herbivores. My otos don't readily accept algae thins, but LOOOVE the Veggie Rounds.
