Driftwood Bacteria

If I was to purchase a piece of driftwood from an established tank,how long would the bacteria live and how should it be packed to bring it home

keep it covered with some tank water....it should be okay for at least a couple of hours.

i agree.just keep it submerged in water and it should be fine.

Ok I got a small piece of driftwood and got it home into my tank
I notice that there are 2 snails on it,one smaller one that moves around quite well and a larger one the is just sitting on the wood

What should I do with these?

Keep them if you want them, give them to a friend or squish them and throw them out if you don't. If you keep them, be ready for a whole lot of snails later on - they breed quickly.

or not... just because you don't like them doesnt mean everyone else doesnt either.

As long as you don't overfeed pond snails won't become much of a nuisance. Some people like them, me included.
