driftwood from a river

markis, i don't want to do the grill thing, cuz i like the bark on it, im going to try to preserve the bark thats left of it. plus im not sure it would fit in our grill, its pretty big--i had to trim it back for a while to see how far i had to go to fit it in the tank
but thanks :)

I would go thru the regular bleach/chlorinating routine along with some good old drying in the sun, instead of trying to fry the driftwood or making a macroni cheese bake out of it.After following this you could place the treated driftwood in the quaretine tank and keep it water soaked for a while to get rid of additional chlorine(if any) residues/leaching issues and also to monitor it for a while before placing it in the main tank.

man put that sucker in the water an let them grow who knows you might have an interesting food source for your fish you can always scoop and discard

Hate to tell ya critters can survive days out of water....

What I do is I take my wood put it in a trash can dump a good load of bleach in the water and let sit covered for 3 days with an airstone. Then I hit it with a load of prime and let it sit for another week.

about an hour ago i went and poured a BUNCH of boiling water all over it and it was sizzling pretty good. it had been sitting out in my driveway under the sun for about 3 days before i did that. i went ahead and put it in my tank...so far i don't see anything. my shrimp and snails were all over it eating stuff off of it or something i guess.
buuut, i just read everything you guys wrote and think maybe i should have done something more...what do you think? is it safe by now?
