ok im a bit confused here...i looked up driftwood on wiki but i am still unsure. can i just collect wood that has been washed into a stream or does it have to be from a saltwater location? i imagine that if i could make it that it would take quite some time to do with the drying for a year then soaking for a long time but i definately dont want to have to buy it at the prices i have seen charged for it i live in a rather wet and rainy area with 2 somewhat large lakes within 50 miles of me and lots of lil streams around so i was wondering if i can just go out and collect what i need? any help would be great thanx

If I found a Pirate's peg leg could I use that?

I happen to wear a Pirate's peg-leg, and I've used it for cover in tanks before in a pinch, but the laquer seemed to have negative effects on the fish, so I try to keep it on my stump and out of the tank as much as I can now. Sometimes though, I feel the call of the sea, and then only a good peg-leg soaking can calm my nerves

But seriously, the driftwood article is really helpful.

Lignum Vitae is what I made me own peg leg out of. It's a bit heavy but no soaking needed. Sorry... I ain't no pirate.
