Drilling Holes

slipknottin,

Ijust ordered a 90 gallon, but my LFS said they could not get one drilled. Any chance you can detail how to drill a tank including the best places to drill? Any help would be great.

i know this is an old post, but i would just like to share my experience with wholes in tanks. i converted my tank from FW to SW(well, still in the process) and to be able to use a sump i actualy changed one of the side glasses. i broke the old one a replaced it with one with holes. it was a risky job but thank god, it worded. i cut it wih a diamond glass cutter , then carefully broke it and cleaned the surface. I put the silicon and just slipped the new glass right into place. this is a very risky process, so dont try it if you havent got experience in home made tanks. here in Cyprus we have to make our own because no lfs imports tanks over about 52gals. good luck Chris :)
Check out these pics. hope they help.

I think your LFS is just trying to sell you what they have on hand. Like it was said earlier every brand name tank manu makes 'em.

If you must buy that tank from that store (personally I'd kick them to the curb) call your local glass stores and ask. Just tell them you don't expect a guarantee.

IMO-Stay away from an overflow w/a Weir overflow. Like the CPR one...unless you want to depend on a crummy 10 buck pump to keep your house dry. Google up a search for an Amiracle overflow. Just like a LifeReef but 1/2 the cost.
