Drip system filter help please!

Ok I got a brilliant idea today when I was watering my mom's plants today!

I want to do a drip system really bad, and my parents said, "Absolutely positivly 100% NO chance in hell" on the taping in to the cold water pipe. lol. But I got an idea. In stead of taping the water pipe, would it work if I used a 90 degree threaded elbow on the hose spicket, and then lead that into my room? I would use ball valves and pressure reducers. I will draw you guys a picture on how I am thinking of doing it. In the mean time, tell me your opinions.

I have a plan for letting water out, I just didn't include it in this pic.

seems like a sound idea. Just make sure you have a check valve or something in case you need to use the hose. May also want to consider adding an inline heater or something.
 
check your local house codes..many times when you attach a line like that to a house water system you may need to incorporate an anti backflow device.(permanent attachements)
 
As long as the outlet is not submerged in the tank water, there wouldn't be anything to backflow aside from the supply water already in the hose.
 
How are you getting the water hose/pipe/tube into the house? I thought about something similar until I realized I'd have to drill a hole in the wall or go through a window that would have to be left open a little.
