Duckweed= Cricket food/gutload???

I have a surprisingly large production of duckweed in my 10 gallon tank, and I decided to throw some into my cricket container. It was greedily eaten by the crickets and I was wondering whether it is a good cricket food. Any thoughts?

Don't see how it could be harmful, and it's free food

Think of it as more of something to hydrate them with since it's made up of over 90% water.

I agree. I was wondering if it would be a good alternative to regular greens that you feed to crickets. They can supposedly have up to 45% protein by dry weight.

Variety is best so you can definitely add it to your gutloading menu.

my sae loves to eat the roots of duckweed. never thought of feeding it to insects.
