Working on a duckweed killing formula and figured I'd keep a log on here. (thought about you andy :evil_lol:)

It should be relatively fish safe, but time will tell..

Anyway, still tweaking and adjusting things, but here goes. (far right container didn't get labeled on the first pic but it is regular strength)

Each day the containers were each sprayed with the according dose of duckweed killer, approximately 2ml give or take.

Both of the treated containers appear to be dying and concentration level doesn't seem to affect that in any major way, so that's a plus because dilution is always a good thing.

I'll start my next test in a few days and dilute it to half/quarter strength.

Any comments?

Are you going to be testing with other plants at all? I'm curious about what exactly this formula does to the duckweed from a physiological standpoint and how it wont affect other plants, seeing as most of us with duckweed have it in tanks containing other plants.

looks promising.

i like a shopvac, though. works wonders.

I swear I am the only person on the face of the planet that wants duckweed LOL. Cool experiment though. I'm keen to see the results.

and then i suck out all my fish as well
what? how?

you don't just haphazardly put the vacuum hose into the tank. you hover above the tank and watch the plants migrate towards the suction. only what breaks the surface goes in. been doing it for about a year now and haven't lost a single fish. to give credit where credit's due, i got the trick from zigman. ;)
