Dumb Question -Just Curious.

a 10g would be suitble for a school for 5-6, but get as long a tank as you can afford/have space for, as they are very hyperactive little fish. As Labrat said a 20g long would be ideal fora large group of them.

Here ya go:

You are probably most familiar with the blacklight tubes and bulbs found in general retail stores. These are available at Home Depot and other lighting stores and often, during Halloween, at department stores. However, these are not industrial (theater) grade lamps. Low wattage---and therefore, short throw distances---make them almost useless. Most of their energy is spent in heat and the filaments produce very little of the UV spectrum.

I have found that blue LEDs light up glowfish better than any blacklight I tried, although they light up the green ones much better than the red or yellow ones.

It usually works best to have a normal lighting system, with blue "moonlights" that you can buy for aqariums on ebay or some pet stores.

You can also try very high heat spectrum lights designed for coral. Like 10,000K or 12,000K fluorescent tubes, I haven't tried them, but they have a lot of UV in their spectrum and would probably make the fish glow decently well during the day.

Glow fish are pretty cool. I bet if u put them in an environment where they could hide with those colors they would do fine. Also they have jellyfish, coral, and another jellyfish in their genome. I wonder what would happen if u tried to breed jellyfish ones with coral ones?
