dust on water surface

Today i added some gravel to my tank and it was a different color so i mixed the 2 up and naturally the water got cloudy but i figured that would settle in a little while, but a i can easily see dust on the surface of my tank and i think its making my tank cloudy, i am very confused, i have no idea how it got there and its making my tank look very ugly! my filter is running and fully functional. please help.

Was the new gravel washed well before adding to the tank?

Just use whatever you use to put water in the aquarium and skim it off of the surface. A plastic gallon sized tea pitcher works well. If you don't have one, they're cheap and it's safer to buy a new one and rinse it out than use one that possibly has soap residue. Just lower it into the aquarium until it barely breaks the surface and let the water from the top run in.
