Does this sound like a good combination? Trumpets eat the excess waste from plants and the loaches check the snail population? I wanna make sure there's something in my tank to keep the snails in check.

If I am not mistaken, MTS hafe a trapdoor and can seal themselves in their shell. Loaches do not crack the shell to eat snails, rather they suck the snail out of the shell. Sids are great eaters of smaller snails but lact the sucking powerr to get the trap door open to get to the goodie inside. For that a much larger loach is required. Clowns, once they get some size, are able to eat MTS. However, you need to have a large enough tank for them as they will get pretty big over time.

puffers will eat the snails but it has to be a species tank. puffer dont get along with other species

:iagree:

The trumpet snails will probably proliferate more than the sids can eat depending on tank size, number of sids and the way the tank is set up.

Oh well. I'll give the big ones to a friend who has clowns and a botia angelicus.
Perhaps chains will eat the babies?

They will but trumpets also burrow underground.
