I know sometimes suitable tank mates depends on the individual cray, kind of like some fish, but is it possible to keep fancy guppies with them? They are c. shufeldtii, by the way. I would like fry from the guppies as well... the few fry I currently have seem to hang near the surface so I would assume they aren't in danger despite their size.. but in case other fry swim around more freely, there will be plenty of hiding spots for the cry, which the fry should be able to use too. I would just like to hear other opinions on this... oh, also - are dwarf crays likely to be a danger to/victim to cories?

IMO, any cray is a danger to all bottom feeders and any other fish that may go their way... when you see the gups, they are at the top..... guess what happens when the lights go out...

I have a group of guppies with my Cherax Quad. She is a 6.5 inch cray so far from dwarf. Every great once in awhile a guppy will go missing. I've lost maybe 4 guppies since I've got the cray back in January.

I'd say, that if your dwarf crays happen to catch any of your guppies, it's just helping the future gene pool.

Keep in mind that he has dwarf crays that max out at around 1.5 inches. They are probably as dangerous as an amano shrimp.

I have never kept shrimp, and I already have the crays. My solution is simply to not put them in the guppy tank. I'm looking to start up a colony of snakeskins from the trio I have, so really no culling is necessary yet. I appreciate the feedback though, so thanks guys.

It's been awhile since I've kept shufeldtii, but I've kept them with small fish without any issues - that includes bottom dwellers like gobies. One did clip an Oto's tail once when they were reaching for the same piece of food, but it was more of a "freaking out" sort of move and the damage was minimal.

the dwarf crays are suposed to be safe for all fish. mabey fry but if you fry get picked off by the dwarf crays then you can thank mother nature for giving you better fry in the future :).

i would suggest that any fish that is shrimp or dwarf shrimp safe would be dwarf cray safe as well :).

regular crawdads will eat every thing that i know of i use my to take out my gonna die fish or to take out my future unwanted fry. near as i remember if a crawdad is too small to eat it it will eat the crawdad.
