Ever since I wanted to setup my Fish Tank, I wanted a Dwarf Gourami. But in this forum and others warns about the dreaded drawrf gourami disease. :confused:I really want one for my center piece because my other choices take up bottom level real estate. For example, rams; peacock gudgeons; and sparkling gourami(are social and like to be in groups).
So guess my question is, how about if I buy it from Liveaquaria.com?

I've had good luck with my LiveAquaria purchases, but the ones they sell are probably imports, if you can best bet for long term healthy ones would be finding someone breeding them here in the US, or perhaps a similar type of fish like Paradise Fish.

I love the dwarf gouramis too. Pretty little buggers.

I don't think the disease effects anything else in the tank, so worst case scenario, you'd loose only the DG?

Bad enough I know, but I don't think I'd let that keep me away from this make/model fish. :)

The paradise fish looks awesome but don't you think is too big for my other fish I plan too get.
Stock plan:
6 Panda Corydora
1 zebra nerite snail
10 red cherry shrimp
8-10 cardinal or rummy nose tetras
centerpiece fish (open 4 suggestions)

I might just get it. But it will be my last addition so my shrimp hopefully get big enough and my plants give more coverage.

The shrimp would be my only concern with the paradise fish, the others should be fine, it would probably come down to the particular paradise how it will act around the shrimp.

Freshy's correct none of the other fish would be affected by the disease if it did end up happening, it only effects the DG's a couple other species of fish can act as carriers but none of the ones you want are.

I've kept a ton of paradise fish (that's a black paradise fish in my icon)...they all love shrimp, yum.

I guess a paradise shrimp is out of the running as centerpiece fish:(
