Dwarf Gourami Belly Swollen?

I have had my 5 Dwarf Gouramis for about 15 weeks. They must be close to full grown and are very active fish. They eat at LEAST 5 flakes each a day.

heck he may be constipated for all we know.. you could try feeding him a pea..it works on my angels and they love em...LOL

i regularly feed my fish a pea. par boil peel skin and drop a piece in.

helps keep em regular

I've had my Dwarf Gourami for about two weeks now. He just moved into a new 10 gallon tank last weekend. It seems like his stomach is slightly swollen, and he seems more timid than usual. Is there something wrong with him? Can someone point me to some more information on this illness if it is, indeed, an illness?

Thanks, everyone. I hope he's ok... :(

Hey - Gosh if you do a search you will probably pull-up all my posts on my dwarf gourami - check the newbie threads too.

Well, I treated my swollen gourami (yes from Petsmart) and after 16 days of struggling, I returned him for what I hope will be a healthy gourami. I did not have a qt tank set up BUT I DO NOW!! My new flame dwarf is sitting in a 5 gallon tank to see if he gets any symptoms.

I tried the pea, Jungle Parasite clear and Maracyn 2. Maybe I gave up too soon, but I really wasn't seeing the swelling go down and he was in hiding all the time.

Good luck!
