I posted before we got the 2 dwarf gouramis this weekend... was worried that they would be as inactive as they seemed in the LFSs (most that I've seen just seemed to sit there motionless). But after introducing them to our tank I LOVE THEM! they are swimming all over the place investigating everything and everyone (even going through the little hole in the mopani wood that the neons rarely swim through). They aren't at all bothering the neons but they do love tormenting our weather loach but I think it's more a curiousity than anything aggressive. They do seem pretty pompous but even the "algae eating shrimp" (guessing they are amanos) are standing up to them face to face and telling them to p!ss off I just hope the gouramis don't get too comfortable and eat them... but since they spit out flake food multiple times before swallowing, I doubt they're capable. Which brings me to a question... the dwarf gouramis seem to be rather picky eaters. They've only been in the tank for 2 days so I'm attributing that to aclimatization but what do you feed your dwarf gouramis? Oh and my girlfriend wants to get a honey gourami to accompany them which I think would be a great compliment to the 2 powder blue dwarfs... would that be fine? any suggestions for an alternative to a honey? The pearl gourami sounds appealing but how many times out of ten will you get a 'neon eater' or a general pain in the @ss? Not neccesarily looking for another gourami so any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The pearl's get much larger, and may be very aggressive to the dwarfs. I probably wouldn't add another gouramie to the tan--they can be very territorial. Since these 2 were introduced at the same time, they can claim territories easily, but any addition down the line will have to take turf from both of them, and may get beaten badly.

For feeding--I feed mine Bio Blend pellets--the herbivore type. Gouramies will eat just about enything, but need lots of vegetation to remain healthy.

I agree with OG that there isn't much that gouramies won't eat. You can feed them peas that have been boiled and had skins removed. All sorts of frozen foods will be eaten. I've never had a problem getting mine to eat.

I feed mine regular tropical fish food. Though of course they often partake of the shrimp pellets that I drop in for the flying fox.
