I have not experienced this myself as I have never kept more than one per tank, but I do know that the males are territorial and I believe they will fight regardless. Sounds like the LFS is just trying to take more of your money....

Agreed. Getting females won't solve the problems. The males will still fight, maybe even more since now they are competing for females.

No prob. There is always an excuse to set up another tank! Get the ten ready for him and then give him some little neons or something for tankmates.....

If they really have females it could be fun to try to breed them. I'm not so sure they are not trying to BS you since most fish stores do not carry females. If they are not willing to give you store credit that would turn me off to doing business with them again.
As far as the bullied male, I agree he likely won't last long with the dominate male even with females present.
