Dwarf Gourami. Stocking a 29g. Help?

but i'm still in the middle of researching it all first. So if he did have an agressive gourami then i want to find out more on why they can be like that towards an angel and so on.
I'm happy to hear that my stocking might just work out.
Now all i have to do is find some nice ground for my # of cardinals and if i'm going to get some bottom feeders or not, and what kind and how many.
I'll probably be introducing the cardinals and bottom feeders before the angelfish and dwarf gourami.
 
You sound pretty well-stocked, I wouldn't add any fish bottom dwellers- but snails and shrimp too large to be eaten by angels are options. Thats JMO though, I like understocked tanks, it seems. You might be able to get away with one of the smaller species of plecos or other similarly-sized catfish. A good shoal of medium sized cories might be pushing it, and the smaller species would become angel food.
 
I have 3 dwarf Gouramis (1m2f) in with cherry barbs, otos and amano shrimp, and it all works very well so far. The only aggression I see from the male Gourami is when he's protecting his bubblenest and one of the cherry barbs goes near it. It's minimal though.

if i cut my cardinals to around 6-8, could i fit a couple of small cories? like 5?
for bottom dwellers i was thinking those or kuhli loaches or dojo loaches or 2 small plecos. :/
 
sure, but the small cory species might be eaten by angelfish. Med. ones like Julies and Bronze may take up too much bioload. Dojo loaches get a foot long, so they're out of the question. Your best bet would be 3 Khulis (They take up about as much bioload as a med cory, but need smaller groups) or one small pleco species like a bristlenose or a clown pleco. BN plecos are good algae eaters, so are worth considering if you want one. Clowns mostly feed on driftwood, but are very attractive.

I;ve read they prefer it, but I doubt it matters very much.
 
So it won't scratch thier bellies or anything? that's good.
maybe i'll just get the 3 kuhlis.
if i do could i still have a bigger number of cardinals or stay down to the 6-7?
 
I;d stay down. Remember, when stocking, less is more, as long as you keep minimum school sizes in mind.
