Hello everyone, new to the forum :o I am going to use my now empty 10 gal as a temp. QT tank for the final fish I want to add to my 29. I want to add a Dwarf Gourami. I have heard/read about them having different parasite/intestinal problems. Should I maybe medicate my new specimen? Will he have a better chance that way? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks. :)

I wouldn't medicate for no reason. I would QT him for 2 weeks though and watch closely. Make sure to add hiding spots for the new fish as they will be shy. If any external parasites (ich, fungus etc...) are visible then try adding 1 tsp per gallon of NaCl and raising the tank temp to 86F (slowly of course). medications can often be harsh on fish and should be used sparingly, especially since you wouldn't know exactly what to treat for.

Thank you for the advice. I've never medicated fish unless there are visible signs of illness, but I wasn't sure what to do in this case. I will just qt him for a couple weeks then. Thanks again.
