I planted some of this a few weeks ago. It's growing great so far but it looks messy because it seems to be all runners! it seems like it puts out two different types of runners. Some grow under the ground and pop up as little grass making a carpet. About half of them, though, seem to grow straight up into the water! It's looking to messy because there's all these runners everywhere getting tangles up in all the grass.

How do other people deal with this? Should I jsut cut them off and leave only the ones in the ground? Trying to plant them is pretty difficult because they just come back up.

I have a nice carpet of it in one of my smaller tanks.I just let it go for awhile, then took a bunch of the stray runners, the ones that float, and started to plant them to get a great carpeted look. Now that I have a carpet,I cut off all the strays. So you could cut off the strays, but I found that by letting them mulitiply,I got a carpet faster by planting a lot of them all at once.It looked kind of messy for awhile, but I think it was worth it in the end.

I would just cut the ones that are not underground. This does 2 things.
1) Gets rid the not grass ones.
2) Gives more energy to the underground ones.
