Theres one in a local lfs. its very small and red, with a little blue patch on its back. Do they do better alone or in pairs, how big do they get, and does there color stay the same?
A male and female would do nicely if you can find a female. They will breed in even a 10 gallon. I would be wary though... even in the best store conditions young honey gouramis are basically white or tan. The males get redish/yellow with a blue/black spot on the head/chest and dorsal fin during breeding time. There have been cases lately of fish pumped with hormones to force them into breeding coloration. Look for oney gouramis at other stores and compare.
They need a well planted tank because they are shy. You could even put a pair by themselves in a planted 10-20 gallon and try to breed them, they are bubble nest builders. Males like all gouramis may fight. They only get to be less than 2".
