I have 3 very small cories in my 120 that look like a paleatus but are only about 1 1/4 inches long. It was not obvious to me how small they are until I got a small school of paleatus for another tank. Is there such a thing as dwarf paleatus or are they just similar in appearance but really another species?

Here is a picture with a zebra danio nearby for size reference. They were within inches of each other when I got it.
Could it be a Pygmy Cory?? They're teeny eeny. I'm not sure though as the picture is kind of hard to tell the true color and pattern. Or maybe the 2 you got originally were quite young (juvenile) and the newer ones are adults???
The ones that I started with have been in the tank for several months. They are very small and they were small when I got them. The thing that surprised me was when I had some adult paleatus to compare them with and they were so tiny. Some web searching led me to one called a corydoras cochui but the text describes them as having a barred tail. I don't see what that would mean with the fish I have. Lets try a slightly better picture. I had to crop it because it was huge but its not as grainy as last time.
You can go to corysrus.com or planetcatfish.com and look for a match. That would be the easiest way to ID what you have. They look like pygmies to me but I am by no means an expert.

My guess would be c. habrosus, which are very closely related to (and look a lot like) c. cochui. :idea:
