Anyone know of a dwarf pleco? A pleco that doesn't grow very large. I'm looking for a pleco that would suit a 27G Hex tank. Give me some ideas.

Bristlenose, meyersi, hillstream loaches, butterfly pulcher--there a many 'pleco' type fish that will stay under 4-5 inches. Otocinclus are even smaller, staying under 2 inches for most species.

The better question is: what do you want the fish for/ If it's to be a worker fish, than some types are better than others. Many are good algae eaters as juveniles, but not as adults. All must be fed appropriately, probably different foods than many other community fish prefer. You don't have to have a pleco in every tank, and if you're not interested in a specific fish, it may be better to avoid them.

I think I'm going to go with two small Otos. Anyone know what average selling price is for those?

Thanks for the info. Hopefully they won't be that much more in Halifax.

If you get otos or any algae eaters for that matter, please make sure you have plenty of algae. The survival rate of oto isn't very high if there's not plenty of algae. I've learned it the hard way.
I bought 6 otos last year, for some reason one disappeared. Almost a year later, I now have 3 FAT otos, 2 skinnier ones. They're doing a great job on algae.
