I recently set up my old 2.5 gallon tank and was thinking about getting another fish to put in there...any suggestions?

I was really looking forward to putting (1) dwarf puffer in there..but would a 2.5 gallon be too little for one? And would they need a tankmate?

Any suggestions on what to put in there? EXCEPT for a betta..5 is already enough!

Thanks

Lol..Puppy...I have like ....18 bettas at last count.....

But, back to ideas for your 2 1/2.....hmm.....you planning on trying to put one of those nano filters in there ? I think that would be a good idea...

I know of a tiny little fish that is used often in nano tanks...because the female only gets about an inch long...and the male even smaller. There is someone here in this forum who has a pic of some for his avatar...wish I could remember what the name of those are !! A few of those might be nice....

You could do ADFs....a nice sort of pond type setup with lilies..fake or real. I have a tiny little fake water lily pad with a purple flower on it that I found at Walmart in the fish section...some of those on the surface would be cute in a setup like that...if you had a nano filter it would create a little current to swirl the plants a bit, which would also look great !

Use your imagination...and have fun with it !

Most people would say that a 2.5 is too small for anything, and for the most part they're right. I would do either a single dwarf puffer, or do a shrimp tank. Put it where it will get some light from a window (not enough to cook it, just enough to encourage good algea growth) and add a bunch of amano, ghost, and whatever other kinds of shrimp you can find.

ThanX for the advice everyone! Yeah, i already have 4 ADF in with my other community tank..so it would look neat the setup that Emg was talking about! But, i don't know yet I kind of wanted to try something i don't yet have.

OMG 18 bettas! Wow..that's alot of cleaning! lol

ooooh, I think i know what you are talking about the Least Killifish (heterandria formosa) I was thinking about getting those! I just wonder how tiny they really are...would i need like a sponge filter for them?

She said you can have 15 in a 2.5 gallon with no problem last time i asked her. So they must be extremely tiny!

But they are cool fish and the smallest live bearers! I love livebearers like guppies and mollies.

ThanX for the pictures!

Yes, I have decided on getting 10 of those least killifish!..I'm getting live plants, sand, and a "small world" or sponge filter this week! Then, once I have it all setup I'll order them from the website you have provided!
