Dwarf Puffers in Massachusetts?

Just be sure these cuties are in a species only tank. I had a dwarf with semi agressives in a LARGE tank, and this one puffer terrorized my whole tank. I will get some for my five gal when I can make it species only...

Yeah, these guys will be on their own with no one but small pond snails to terrorize.

hi everyone.
to get off topic...i have a house in eastern mass. around jimminy peak. Im from Rockland County NY though. Anyway, im confused on the status of puffers. I used to have some in my tank, but i got rid of them to raise some very rare angels. Well, after i sold the angels, i realized that i missed my puffed up friends but people say i can't have them in my tank with a 2 small angels, 2 agazzizi's, 2 kreb's, pearl gourami, mollies that im babysitting (hehe), 4 serpae's, and live plants. i know they get along with the mollies and serpae's but im not sure about the dwarf cichlids and the gourami and the angels, i really like the puffers and i really like my dwarfs.
1) how do you thing the puffers would do in my tank how it is now?
2) what dwarfs can handle the puffers?
3) what would you recommend i do?
thanks in advance and i hope you can help me!

Just a few things:

1) Dwarf Puffers are strictly freshwater. There are many varieties of salt and freshwater puffers.

2) Dwarf Puffers don't HAVE to be in a species-only tank, but do best in them. There is a limited group of acceptable tankmates. Most people have had success with Otos, Amano shrimp, Ghost Shrimp, Bamboo Shrimp, Tiger Barbs and a few types of loaches. The shrimp will sometimes be eaten and sometimes go unnoticed.

3) Dwarf Puffers eat pond snails. It's actually very beneficial for them to do so, to keep their teeth worn down. It's recommended to feed them pond snails quite often.

There's tons more I could tell you, but it's just easier to post this: www.dwarfpuffers.com

Good luck. :)

I had my puffer (he is a leopard puffer) in my 55 gal with 8 juvie cichlids. The juvie's terrorized him. He is now in his own 10 gallon tank. He hasn't eaten yet. I am a little worried about him. I had to set up my hospital tank at lunch time for him. He has had a lot of stress in 24 hours. Any thoughts? Sorry to go off topic
