dwarf puffers not eating

I got 3 dwarf puffers three days ago. They won't eat the frozen bloodworms I tried giving them. I even put them in the running water from the filter to seem as if they were alive. They seem interested in them, but they don't eat it. The frozen worms may be too big as my puffers are tiny little babies. Hardly a half inch.

Maybe i should cut the bloodworms? Or do I have to go with live bloodworms? Any ideas??? Maybe they just need time to get used to my tank?

I had the same problem with my dp's. So I went out and found a store that carried live blackworms. It's also possible that yours are still getting settled in, but mine wanted to eat the next day. They were hungry, I could tell, but they didn't recognize the frozen stuff as food. From only live worms, I had to train them to accept other foods. My female is still picky (after nearly 3 months) and has decided she won't accept frozen food anymore and only wants live blackworms and snails.
 
okay, i figured. i have a great LFS that always has a supply of worms. I was hoping my little guys would accept frozen bloodworms and make life easier. those little guys. I'll tell ya.

I'll see if I can make them eat live ones and throw in some frozen ones at the same time...perhaps they'll be confused and eat them and eventually get used to it. hehe.
 
I haven't had any problems with my dwarf puffers, other than the fact that one of em died unexpectedly...:( The one I have left eats flake foods if that's all that I have...other than that, it eats the frozen bloodworms, I just have to defrost it first and add it in with the aquarium water. They eat first, giving my bumblebee gobies an incentive to eat...try the blackworms, and if that doesn't work, try buying a brine shrimp hatchery, hatch them and then feed them...it won't work forever since they are not a good source of essential vitamins, but it will get them started
 
If you start with the live bloodworms or blackworms, feed the fish individually using stainless steel forceps or tweezers (can find them for use in planted tanks or in a regular drug store). Fortunately mine took to the frozen food right away, and all along I've been feeding with forceps. Now whenever they see anything in the forceps they assume it's food - when I'm moving plants around they are right there trying to eat them! I also like the individual feeding since you can monitor how much each fish is eating.
 
i can't tell. they are so tiny anyway and I've never had them before. the look fine.
 
really? a whole week? wow... okay. I'll keep an eye out for strange behavior...

I think I may try some frozen brine shrimp tonight... just to see if they'll eat it.
 
They, my first DPs I got didn't eat. People said it usually takes them a week or so to get settled in and start eating. Sure enough a week later they finally started eating. I would still try other foods though as they can be very picky eaters. Good luck!
