Dwarf Puffers

WOW! That is amazing! I had scanned up and down the list to see anyone who listed four DP's and couldn't see one. I guess sometimes you can't see the forest because of all the trees!

Anyways, I have DP's and I was wondering wether he thought 3 to be too many for a 10 gal. I'm glad that wasn't the case! Wasn't sure of a mistype or what.

You are the MAN, RTR......well, at least ONE OF THEM! :p

I wonder if 3 dwarf puffers can do well with 4 cories? I hope so because I really like cories and DP's as well.

DPs would pick on the cories, I think.

I have cories with my DP's, but they always get their fins nipped. I'm going to have to move the cories.

You can put amano shrimp with the dp's (I do). Just make sure they have a dark cave, or a clump of java moss to get away from the puffers if they're giving the amanos a hard time.

DPs will destroy cories. DO NOT mix DPs and Cories. I learned the hard way. I do have my DPs in with other fish and no issues....it has been 6 motnhs with them in my community tank and the only issue was with the cories. I have since moved them (the cories) to my 10 gallon.

^ I knew someone would post about the evilness of DPs...

All puffers should be considered species-tank fish, period. To act otherwise is putting any other fish in the tank at risk. That said, certain puffers, including most but not all DPs, will accept and ignore Otos as tank mates and ignore them. Many DPs will accept shrimp as well - which is a surprise, as crustaceans are part of puffer's natural diet, second only to snails.

Any fish with flowing fins (i.e., bettas) or any fish which rests especially on the bottom of the tank with its fins erect (i.e., Cory cats) will be "tasted".

Puffers are not "evil". They are predators. When and why did predators become "evil"? We have an awful lot of evil fish in the hobby if that is case, which IMHO, it is not.

Oh fine... I didn't mean evil as in EVIL, but as in very aggressive and harmfully curoius
