dwarf puffers

I would go with 2 in a 5 gallon. Majority opinion from what I have seen is around 2.5 gallons per. Make sure you have a line of fake plants or something down the center to make two distinct territories as they will establish their own zones within the tank. I have heard that otos make good tankmates if you wanted to keep a couple of those in with them. African Dwarf Frogs supposedly go well with them as well.

Ditto.

Lots of plants will make sure that if one of them has a cranky day, the other can get away for a while.

I think they like to eat small snails too. It's also supposed to be good for them cause it keeps their beaks in shape ;)

They're great to have. I love my one. Such characters. And they look so neat when they hover around the tank like a little space sub. Duh Dum

Hi

Lots of plants do well. Males and females together. 5 sounds a bit much.

And a handy tip: check that the sand is smooth and not containing any sharp bits. if food sinks the puffer will coil himself up and then spring at the food. He will hit the substrate at a fair force and if its sharp you'll see his face get all cut up when he misses the food.

If you havev trouble getting him to eat, freeze the food and then plop it in. As it floats around melting he will start to chase it but it melts vefore he gets to eat it. It keeps them active.

They love! Originally i picked them up to help control a control an explosive growth in snail population in my 10-gallon. After a few days there wasn't a snail in sight
