dying fish

stores can be rotten and greedy- which is why this is so not your fault, and why I am so sorry you and your kids are going through this. I think it is wonderful that you are working so hard to take good care of your fish.

Erpetoichthys calabaricus

that is the scientific name of the ropefish we have

yeah, that's what I was worried about- he's too big, I'm sorry. Some of the other birchirs on that page stay smaller, did you like those?

i'll look again more closely and see their specifics...you didn't get my hopes too high being that i'm trying not to kill them

does anyone know about the marbled bichir...and also can i have a sandy substrate with an undergravel (i guess the key word here is gravel) filtration system? i'm thinking no but curious none the less

you might pm dolphin 7, she knows a lot about bichirs. I love them but don't have any personal experience.
You'll work through this. It's just going to take a bit of thinking about which fish you really want, you know? nothing wrong with that.

awesome...now...how do i find her to pm her?

you can either go to the user list- or do a search I think the exact name is dolphin7 - all one word- you can do a partial match search.

thanks...i found her but wasn't sure...you confirmed it...you have been an awesome help
