Easy 75 gal planted tank and fish/plant list

Very nice! Love the substrate - what is it?

I was going to reply with that very question. I usually like solid color substrate. Even if it's an unnatural color such as purple or blue, I prefer it to be solid.

But this is really cool.

Is it a custom mix you made or did it come prepackaged?

And the rest of the tank.... super nice. It's nicely balanced with just the amount of decor.

I agree too about the background. Put a black (or brown that matches the brown color in the substrate) background on the tank and I think that would put it over the top.

Roy: the substrate is seachems fluorite gravel, what a pain the initial wash was lol but it helps plants root really good.

Maneatingshrimp: I'll have to think about it, or search for a picture first, have you done it and have a picture?

Tanker: yep my SAE or Siamese algae eater Is doing great and schools with my roseline sharks lol and I have 15 cardinals but lost them suddenly. Will get back up to that number or try my hand at rummy nose tetras!

Stephybabe: it's a dual t5 bulb unit with built in LEDs, you can look up deepblue solarmax t5s, cheap and very high quality! I love them so far. For input I'd say stay with easy plants like crypts java fern etc

Stephcps: have a picture?

Thanks!
The gravel is about 3-4 bags of seachems fluorite and maybe one bag of black flora max but you hardly see that gravel lol
will deff look into a background, looks like that is something everyone things I need lol

Your tank looks wonderful, great plants!

You should look at the blue tetras msjikzd has. I think they would look great in ths tank. I just got a school for myself. I have lot$ o crypts so I guess I'm headed in the right direction. My dual T5s should be here any day :) and I was asking about that CO 2 booster the other day, as I just started dosing it myself. I hope mine turns out as nice.as yours!

So, this is all I have access to right now. Not the greatest...but you get the idea. If you google fish tanks with black backgrounds and just look at the images, you will see other examples. I mentioned the posterboard and duct tape as it is easy to put up and easy to take down if you don't like it. Plus cheap....

Thanks! I wish they were all still like that. I lost almost everything in the October snowstorm that left me without power for 10 days. I now have a generator. But, it is taking me a long time to get going again. None of my tanks are quite like what I had going before. ah well.....

The poster board is so easy....and so not permanent! I think you will love the look!
