It is a non-planted tank, has 3 mollies in it.

my gf wants a snail or shrimp. I don't really know anything about those lol.

I need a snail or shrimp that is easy to keep in a non-planted tank

thanks:headbang2:

The shrimp would be snacks, I am not certain how snails do with Mollies as I haven't kept them. What is the tank size?

i have both snais and shrinps with mollies, but with you having no plants or hiding places the shrimps may be lunch.

I don't see mollies giving snails any trouble.

The mollies will try to get their lips on anything they can find. One I brought home was nibbling at my fingers and eating from my hand just hours after being acclimated to the tank.

That said, I don't see how a molly could do any harm to a reasonable sized snail. Baby snails might get banged up too much, but even a 1/2" diameter apple snail has nothing to worry about. My frisky molly has already tried to gum the shells off my apple snails; No luck.

snails and mollies would be fine. I have kept both and the baby snails (Ramshorn) never encountered any issues.

As for the shrimps, is left exposed the Mollie will be curious. Mollies are nippers towards smaller docile fish IME, and with the first curious 'poke' will soon follow the 'nibble'...

With a decent amount of cover, like a dense Java-Moss ball, I would think they could be okay, but not in large #s

Why do you want to add aquarium salt. Its probably not necessary.

The only use aquarium salt has is for medicating certain illnesses, like ich. I am assuming you want to have a semi brackish tank for the mollies, which would need marine salt for a brackish environment. Common mollies (not sailfins) are fine in freshwater and brackish, and do well in even saltwater if properly acclimated. No need for salt. How big is this tank?

bc i think one of the fish may have ich... why else would you add aquarium salt??

and no, i didn't say marine salt, i said aquarium salt

simple question simple yes or no answer... can snails be in a tank with aquarium salt?
