odd.... they both contain animal material, you'd think you need meat digesting enzymes to digest that animal material.
Ah, but much different proteins and amino acid chains.
not true.... even the sahara
The Sahara is practically a paradise...ever been to the Empty Quarter or the Gobi?
contains many edible plants, as well as things, (depending or region, of course) things like prickly pear cactus,
Edible, but not sustaining for long.
date palms, and other things, plus (as long as you remove the thorns) many cacti are filling meals perfectly capable of sustaining like, as well as succulents like aloes in africa.
If you find areas in which those grow...they are not everywhere.
now the deserts of central asia.... those really are for the most part plantless wastes. of course, they are almost equally as animaless. of course, it'd all depend on where I was stranded.
Aha, my point!
but if I was in the rub' al kahli or the talikman desert, then god help me.
Especially if you had a crate of spam and no enzymes to digest it with.
who said anything about eating fronds?
Not all palms produce edible fruit...
hohohoho... I think you'd have me there if I was stranded with a case of beef jerky...
Admitting a weakness, or just that you would be pooched? I prefer to keep my oprions open...no telling what may lie ahead.
true, rats and mice are qutie edible, but the bones seem a bit too numerous to make a good meal.
You would be surprised.
and bugs do count as meat, i guess.
Mmmm...meaty bugs....slurp!
chances are they'd be the only terrestial meat you'd see on a desert island, since rats and mice can only come through humans most of the time, and if humans have not been there, chances are low that their'd be any rats or mice.
Actually, there are dozens of rat species worldwide that exist in places virtually untouched by man....do not limit your rat-thoughts to only Rattus species.
Now, despite the fact that I do not eat red meat, I really cannot stand those (like P*TA) who agressively prostletyze their beliefs on others, so in the spirit of the main thread topic, a favourite billboard:
