Ebay vs Amazon

No matter who I buy from I always read the negative comments and look for a pattern. I also check www.resellerratings.com for bad press. The only time I was scammed was from AC. I eventually got my money back but it took more than 6 months.

The biggest problem I have with ebay is that you're forced into the paypal racket.

I've never had a problem with ebay and I've never had an issue with amazon in many many years, I've had three problems with paypal and none of them were resolved satisfactorily.

I buy a lot from Amazon and have never had a bad experience. I had one bad experience with a non-US seller on eBay. The item took forever to ship and then the seller was terminated and the whole page disappeared, so I couldn't even leave feedback. After that I swore off all non-US sellers. I'm especially leery of electronics. Amazon is my rock and so far has never let me down.

I have had great experiences with both, I have made several hundred dollars on eBay, and recently I got a dual T5 light fixture with bulbs and free shipping for only 65.00'dollars! I have also found some good deals on amazon, but I have found that drs foster and smith has the cheapest aquarium dry goods.

If you keep your eye on eBay you can find a good deal...

My favorite for aquarium (or pet) supplies only is petmountain for sure, me and my neighbors normally get a big order together so we get free shipping and its awesome!

I haven't had a problem with either site, ever..including PayPal, ever. But then again, I am normal....

You guys might want to check out this person's store, I have bought from them and they were great.

Go into eBay and search "seller:xcceries" They have some really good deals... And usually free shipping.

I always shop around online even using Google shopping search engine which will have all the sellers including Ebay & Amazon. While Amazon customer service is superior you just need to make sure whatever you buy is being sold by Amazon otherwise its like buying from Ebay and ignoring vendor reputation. Unless the item being sold on Amazon by another 3rd party vendor is also being sold on Ebay by the same vendor with great Ebay reputation, I wont buy it. In other words sometimes you can find an item on Ebay cheaper on Amazon by the same good-reputation vendor, other then that unless Amazon is exclusively selling it, I wont buy it cause I have had too may return experiences on Amazon 3rd party items.
