Educate me on the product

"Prime"...How safe is it? How often can I use it?

Will amonia, nitrate, nitrites still show up on my testing after using it? I understand it just neutralizes everything...

I accidently put one of my tanks into "cycling" again and I don't want to kill the fish...they would be "eaten" by the fish in my other tanks

Prime is a simple de chlor that removes chlorine and chlormine. Myself and others here swear by it. Its the only de chlor I would ever use. It breaks the bond between the chlorine and ammonia then converts the ammonia into a safe form for fish. Its safe for cycling tanks. NO change in the cycle.

Prime will give false positives for both Nessler and salicylate ammonia tests - seachem says to use there own test to get a true reading (hehe..how convenient) I don't know if nitrite/nitrate readings are affected, but it is suppose to "neutralize" there affects, and I've had good luck with it.

I forgot about that! Maybe it would be best to use another type of de chlor just for the cycle. But Prime is a good product for sure.

I used prim when I cycled my tanks. The ammonia alert is the only test that I know of that will give you a true ammonia reading while your using this product. I love this alert thing. I leave it in my tank all the time. The only form of ammonia that is harmful to your fish is the gaseous ammonia. The regular test kits test for total ammonia.

Actually despite the possibility of false readings, Prime tends to stand up to it's advertised capabilities. I would use it to protect my fish in the situation you are in. water changes are still your best friend, but prime will lessen the effects of ammonia and nitrite during the cycle. additionally it converts ammonia to ammonium which is still available for your bacteria (thus the false reading) but is not harmful to your fish.
