eel has a big belly (pictures)

they aren't zig zags, because they don't move like them. they move alot slower and don't zig zag. they have little eyes painted on fins of their tails.
 
Sounds like maybe a peacock eel. Does it have 4 little circles or "eyes" on its tail?
 
Zig-Zag doesn't refer to the movement of the eel but rather the markings. If yours have little eyes on thier tails they are peacock eels. I have two of those and they move very much the same as my zig-zag eel. They also have very white bellies and will get fat too! If it is acting normal then I think the one is just getting more to eat or you may just have one female and one male. Keep an eye on it and let us know of any behavioral changes or changes in physical appearance.
 
i can't say how many eyes they have on their tails now, because they are burred in the sand. i'm glad that it's normal looking belly. i'll watch him or her. i think they are a pair, because i had another eel that used to get beat up by one of these two, but i gave that one away, because he was stressing alot from fights by flipping upside down. these two don't fight, just hang out.
