All four of those are really awesome, relatively commercially available, and better looking than most eels IMO. They also all fit your requirements quite well, as they will all fit into a community aquarium with some planning. Switching to sand would definitely be best for any loaches you might decide on, as well as the cories you already have.

Would it be stupid to try to have part sand and part gravel? Like remove the gravel from 1/4 of the tank, and fill in with lots of sand, of course they would end up mixing some in the middle. I'd have to learn more about the pros and cons of gravel and sand I guess. I actually like the look of gravel quite a lot, at least for now. And it says that sand is harder to keep clean, etc -- probably snails can do a lot of it.

Yeah, those 4 are very cool. I don't think any of the LFS's have them, but I am fine with ordering a few online.

Actually, sand is easier to keep clean since debris sits on top of it, as opposed to sinking into little holes in the gravel. I just suck the debris off with the python in water changes.

I have a 20g and 10g with sand now :) And people who know me are going to think I'm crazy, but later I might have to get another tank that's 30-46g. I look forward to getting five 4" colorful skinny loaches.
