egeria densa in sump for nitrate reduction?

The poster does not live in the USA, but it can quickly clog every river and stream and takes years to get rid of. Once loose there, it will destroy and transform the water systems, so if you like the native species there, do not let this weed loose.

It's banned 100% from the USA to have, possess or ship.
Not likely banned there, but should be, but then again, they will not enforce that law either......

I'd go with any emergent plants, stay about from this and duckweed, those will clog your filters etc, the emergents are much easier to grow and less demanding, more NO3 removal.

Try water sprite, Indian water fern, it does very well and will do well in the sump

thanks , earlier today i tried to look for water sprite, but was not able to find some:( I'll try to look for it again tomorrow. btw any other plants that are hardy, suck up nutrients and can be left floaing in the tank and doesn't easily break apart?

Was able to get some water sprite, i've been told they have been grown emersed, Can i just throw them into my sump? or do i have to plant them?

That actually looks like Hygrophila difformis in its emergent state.

thanks :) Will throw them into my sump tank,

btw would you know if mollies eat hydrilla? i noticed my hydrilla plant's leaves seem to be getting fewer and fewer, my sumps inhabitants are only mollies.

Also look into hornwort that is usually sold at Petsmart or Petco. No promises, but the ones near me seem to always carry that stuff in their plant section. It grows in all directions and fast too.
